Among the world’s great international cities, Paris stands out for its unstinting civic commitment to art and the life of the imagination. For that reason, it attracts hundreds of thousands of artists, curators, gallerists, and culture-oriented visitors from every corner of the globe, every year. The city welcomes all into an atmosphere of rigorous discussion and debate. American art and ideas deserve to be presented to this audience in a context that illuminates creative work with contemporary American thinking.

From its foundation in the late 1980s, to its more recent renewed vision, creative energy and bold programming, the Mona Bismarck American Center has produced a notable impact on the Parisian cultural ecosystem. Increasingly seen as the venue of record for American art and ideas that challenge received notions, audiences are packing our spaces to hear and see the likes of Taryn Simon, Nico Muhly, Yvonne Rainer, Jonah Boaker and many, many, more.

Members of the Board of Trustees of the Mona Bismarck American Center oversee the organization’s governance, and are, above all, ambassadors of the Center’s vision and action. It is an honor to serve on the board to ensure the legacy of Mona Bismarck who so well understood that art and culture are the indispensable ingredients for mutual understanding.
