John Giorno: “Poetic Precedents and Experiments”

Date(s) - Nov 24

American poet John Giorno has been an important name for generations of French writers and performance artists. While in the 1960s the Giorno Poetry System and his multimedia poetry experiments (Dial-A-Poem) inspired many in the avant-garde such as Bernard Heidsieck and Michel Bulteau, a new generation of French poets is now finding new ways to create in Giorno’s correspondences between words, images and sounds.  This event, coinciding with the Palais de Tokyo exhibition by Ugo Rondinone, I ♥️ John Giorno (October 21, 2015 to January 10, 2016), will pay homage to the iconic figure, with performances, readings and music. During this special evening, poets and contemporary artists Anne-James Chaton, Frank Smith, and a mystery guest will propose performances, readings and original creations inspired by the work of the American artist . Evening hosted by Yann Perreau.
