New York-based Saul Williams is a leading interdisciplinary artist: poet, writer, musician, rapper, dancer, and actor. Having established an international reputation with his singular mix of poetry and hip hop, he is considered a legend of spoken word. Among his inspirational sources, he cites sources as diverse as Tupac Shakur, Prince, Jean-Michel Basquiat, James Baldwin, the Beat Generation writers and Beyoncé. His first album, Amethyst Rock Star, produced by Rick Rubin, inaugurated a series of multidisciplinary projects that overflow the musical dimension: Niggy Tardust (nod to David Bowie) and the more recent Martyr Loser King. Williams has also published many volumes of poetry.
As part of the Paris-New York 2016 Tandem organized by the City of Paris and the Institut français, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States and with the American Embassy in France, with the support of the city of New York.
