Determined to understand the overwhelming regret that she has been grappling with for years, Lindy takes off on a road trip across Mississippi to track down and learn more about her fellow jurors tasked with deciding the fate of a man’s life all those years earlier.

Dorothea Lange: Politiques du visible features major works by the world famous American photographer Dorothea Lange (1895, Hoboken, New Jersey-1966, San Francisco, California), some of which have never before been exhibited in France. The exhibition focuses on the extraordinary emotional power of Dorothea Lange’s work and on the context of her documentary practice. Over one hundred splendid vintage prints taken between 1933 and 1957 are enhanced by the presence of documents and screenings broadening the scope of an œuvre often familiar to the public through images.

– October 5 – Jon Batiste at the American Cathedral: Jon Batiste is a musician and singer from Louisiana. A multi-instrumentalist, it is with the piano that he creates jazz music in the pure tradition of New Orleans.

– October 29 – Serpentwithfeet at Badaboum: Of African-American origin, Serpentwithfeet is known for its unclassifiable music, rooted in an array of histories and traditions.

Take in the history of cinema and the United States with Mathieu Bauer’s diptych Une Nuit Américaine, which presents an adaptation of Samuel Fuller’s cult film Shock Corridor, and Western, where Bauer injects an epic dimension into Lee Wells’ drama, with the impetuous troupe of Shock Corridor and the musical compositions of Sylvain Cartigny. Between the two performances, by way of an intermission, the audience will enjoy a concert/cabaret-style interlude



Outsider Art Fair

For its  6th Paris edition, (October 18-21) the Outsider Art Fair will showcase 39 exhibitors representing 18 cities from 10 countries. Founded in New York in 1993, the Outsider Art Fair is the first art fair devoted exclusively to self-taught art produced outside of the mainstream, and which also presents internationally acclaimed masters. Quickly recognized for its maverick spirit, the OAF has played a vital role in the development of a community of passionate collectors and in the broader recognition for outsider art on the contemporary art scene.

The Gordon Matta-Clark. Anarchitecte exhibition presents one hundred works related to contemporary urban culture, from New York to Paris, that further contextualize Gordon Matta-Clark’s compelling critique of architecture.

Together, they will propose a new musical experience: the encounter of negro spiritual music and Italian overture, also referred as “sinfonia” .

Festival Multiple Art Days (MAD)

An important annual fair for limited art editions of all kinds, MAD will present, over a 3-day period, a wide spectrum of contemporary styles, from zines to rare objects: prints, multiples, artists’ books, videos, audio CDs, vinyls…

The MAD festival offers you several VIP events:

– the press and VIP preview on Thursday, September 13 from 2pm to 7pm with a preview presentation of the exhibitions.

– the VIP brunch on Friday, September 14 and on Sunday, September 16. The brunch will start before the opening of the festival and will be followed by a private visit of the festival.

Born out of Jamaica’s bruk up style, flex arrived in East New York at the beginning of the 1990’s, where it came in to contact with Reggie “Regg Roc” Gray, the creator of pausin technique. In 2015, he crossed paths with Peter Sellars, and together they created a show exploring love and justice, through powerful personal storytelling and the virtuoso techniques of flex.

Enabling a dialogue between Mozart’s compositions and contemporary hip hop choreography, between music of the Enlightenment and present day movement styles: this was the challenge set out by choreographer Kader Attou and the Champs-Élysées orchestra, emblematic figures of hip hop dance and classical music. Eleven dancers and ten musicians playing 18th century instruments reinterpret Don Giovanni and the Requiem with energy and talent.

One year after the Malian photographer Malick Sidibé’s death on April 14, 2016, the Fondation Cartier pays tribute to him with Mali Twist, a large retrospective exhibition accompanied by a catalogue. The exhibition is conceived and directed by André Magnin, in collaboration with Brigitte Ollier. Along with iconic works, the exhibition presents for the first time a vast collection of vintage photographs and portraits of a timeless beauty, from the artist’s archives who was nicknamed “the eye of Bamako.”

Dynamited by the violence of the world, the intimate story of Eitan, a young German scientist of Israeli origin confronted with a violent conflict with his father, shows how, in fratricidal struggles, no reality can dominate another. Every conflict conceals a labyrinth where the frightful monster of forgotten heritages goes.

The Fondation Cartier for contemporary art will once again focus its attention on the world of cars with the exhibition Auto Photo dedicated to photography’s relationship to the automobile. Organized in series, it will bring together 400 works created by 80 historic and contemporary artists from around the world; capturing the geometric design of roadways, the reflections in a rear-view mirror or our special relationship with this object of desire, these photographers invite us to look at the world of the automobile in a new way.

After a 10 month program, the Salò project is coming to an end. For this last edition, on July 6th, 7th and 8th, the Silencio Club has invited the sulphurous Asia Argento and her provacative charm to take over the club for three nights. She will transform the spaces of the Silencio club into a punk atmosphere, inviting night-lifers and curious minds to awaken their senses through video installations, electronic and rock concerts, Dj sets and electrifying performances as well as avant-garde installations

At the Musée d’Orsay

The exhibition will explore the special pictorial and thematic characteristics of Cézanne’s portraiture, including his creation of complementary pairs and multiple versions of the same subject.
The chronological development of Cézanne’s portraiture will be considered, with an examination of the changes that occurred with respect to his style and method, and his understanding of resemblance and identity. The exhibition will also discuss the extent to which particular sitters inflected the characteristics and development of his practise.

Building on the success of the five first editions, the Champs-Elysées Film Festival, founded by Sophie Dulac, producer, distributor and operator, is presenting its sixth edition, taking place between June 15th and June 22nd, offering the Parisian public the best of French and American independent films. New in 2017, the festival inaugurates its musical programming in an idyllic setting and offers all participants the chance to discover the new Parisian Indie scene on the festival’s Rooftop, while enjoying a glass of champagne.

This year Le Parcours is inspired by Fernando Pessoa’s work “Fragments d’un voyage immobile” (“Fragments of a still journey“), a theme that explores notions of journey and introspection.
Created in 2000 in response to an increasing demand for cultural visibility from local stakeholders, Le Parcours is an initiative which contributes to an artistic renewal of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighbourhood.
